New York State Education Department Approves Charlotte Danielsons Framework for Teaching

New York (PRWEB) August 01, 2011

Across the country and internationally, thousands of schools have implemented Danielsons Framework for Teaching as a tool for teacher evaluation. The Framework divides the complex activity of teaching into 22 components across four domains. ASCD holds the exclusive copyrights of the leading publications and products outlining Charlotte Danielsons Framework for Teaching and will be supporting New York districts as they begin the process of redeveloping teacher evaluation systems this summer and over the course of the school year.

ASCD partnered with Learning Sciences International to develop the ASCD Teacher Effectiveness Suite powered by iObservation, a powerful online fusion of Charlotte Danielson's research-based Framework for Teaching, professional development, and supporting data system to increase teacher growth and raise student achievement.

We are proud to partner with ASCD and Charlotte Danielson to bring the ASCD Teacher Effectiveness Suite to New York school districts, said Learning Sciences International CEO, Michael Toth. Redeveloping teacher evaluation systems is a complex process and the Teacher Effectiveness Suite will give administrators and teachers the tools needed to successfully implement Charlotte Danielsons Framework for Teaching. Technology plays a critical role for classroom observations, data collection, professional development, the delivery of feedback teachers can use to improve their practice, and generating the final evaluation.

Although many districts in the state of New York already use the Framework for Teaching as a rubric for teacher evaluation, all districts are required to adopt new rules and update systems for evaluation for all grades by the 2012-2013 school-year. All districts will redevelop systems for evaluation this summer to begin evaluating ELA and Math teachers grades 4-8 in the upcoming school year.
