Phitek First to Market With Active Noise Rejection Technology to Combat Ambient Noise In Monaural BT Wireless Headsetss

CES, Las Vegas (PRWEB) January 9, 2009

Phitek Systems Limited, the global leader in advanced active noise cancellation technologies, announced today the development of an effective Active Noise rejection solution to significantly improve the quality of voice received over a monaural BT wireless headset in a high noise environment.

Monaural BT headsets provide consumers with a convenient hands free connection to their mobile phones. These devices are typically used "on the go", often in environments compromised by high levels of ambient noise. This creates a significant challenge for the effective utility of the device as noise easily corrupts the intelligibility of the voice signal as received by the microphone as well as compromising the quality of sound delivered to the ear. This reduction in overall sound quality in a two way exchange severely undermines the value proposition in employing such equipment, slowing the rate of market penetration.

To date most solutions for reducing the influence of noise in monaural BT headset applications have focused on improving the quality of the transmitted signal, where a myriad of technologies now exist. Phitek has focused its efforts on developing solutions for enhancing the quality of sound experienced at the receive end of the communication exchange - solutions that directly benefit the user of the device.

Phitek is the first to market with an effective solution for reducing the influence of ambient noise on the quality of sound delivered to the ear. This solution is based on Phitek's proprietary Active Noise Rejection technology, already employed in many of the world's leading premium active noise cancellation headphones, earphones and commercial aviation systems. Phitek has now streamlined this technology in two easy to use components, offering a cost-effective route for customers to integrate ANRTM benefits into their products.

Phitek's ANR platform for monaural BT headsets combines a low power, low noise controller in a System-In-Package (SiP) format with a compact acoustic subsystem to deliver a complete, optimized ANR solution. The acoustic subsystem has been miniaturized and can be easily integrated to meet the customer's ergonomic requirements. The Phitek SiP is a single chip solution, which operates seamlessly with all BT wireless formats. The solution is plug'n'play, enabling any monaural BT device an effective Active Noise Rejection capability.

Mark Donaldson, CEO stated, "Phitek is very pleased to offer its partners with a unique technology to significantly improve the quality of sound delivered by monaural BT headsets in a high noise environment. We believe that this technology will become an important feature in the coming year as it provides such a compelling improvement over the status quo."

Phitek is demonstrating this latest innovation in active noise cancellation technology to selected customers at its suite at the Venetian hotel during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held in Las Vegas 8-11 January. For further information and appointments please contact Nicola Gray.

About Phitek Systems Limited

http://www.phitek.com

Phitek Systems is the world's leading supplier of audio enhancement and noise rejection technologies. Focused on innovation and invention, Phitek provides global customers with creative solutions for the effective reduction of ambient noise based on its patented Active Noise Rejection (ANR) technology.

Phitek ANR was originally developed for use in commercial passenger aircraft where background noise is insidious leading to hearing loss, fatigue and stress. Today, Phitek ANR is used by more than 50 airlines worldwide, servicing more than 15 million passengers each year. The technology works by measuring the noise field close to the ear and then calculating an "antinoise" response which is sent to the headphone speaker. The noise and antinoise signals combine to yield near silence. Phitek ANR is very effective at reducing background noise and unlike alternatives tunes its response to suit prevailing noise conditions.

Beyond aviation Phitek ANR technology is utilized by many of the biggest brands in audio and mobile music and has been recognised by leading publications including Wired Magazine, PC Magazine and Macworld as "best-in-class". Phitek's impressive portfolio of patented solutions spans commercial aviation, consumer audio and mobile telephone segments in both in-ear, and on-ear formats. The company recently joined CSR's Bluetooth eXtension partner programme and is active in developing world first solutions for Bluetooth monaural and binaural applications.

Phitek is headquartered in Auckland New Zealand with sales offices located in Hong Kong, San Jose - California, Ottawa, Canada, Tokyo, Japan, and Taipei, Taiwan.

Global Audiological Devices Market to Reach US $26.2 Billion by 2017, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) November 10, 2011

Follow us on LinkedIn - Hearing impairment is a global and increasing problem often reported among elderly people. Continuous rise in the number of people suffering from moderate to severe hearing loss and the relatively lower penetration of hearing instruments among hearing-impaired population presents enormous growth opportunities for the audiological devices market. Market growth is expected to stem from growing demand for hearing instruments that are less visible, and which incorporate superior hearing technologies such as digital and programmable hearing instruments. A major factor affecting market growth is the miniaturization trend that led to the development of highly advanced hybrid analog/digital devices. Digital hearing aids continue to gain market share at the expense of conventional analog hearing aids. The trend is driven by the narrowing price difference between digital aids and analog aids.

As stated by the new market research report on Audiological Devices, the US continues to remain the single largest regional market. Though the population of US, Canada, Japan, Western Europe and Australia put together constitutes only 15% of the global population, these regions capture a predominant share of the audiological devices market. Increase in the number of people with fading hearing ability is a major driving factor for the markets growth. Russia, Poland, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Korea and China are key growth markets with potential for significant expansion. Asia-Pacific is poised to register the fastest compounded annual growth rate of 11.4% over the analysis period. Developing countries, in particular China and India, are registering robust growth in demand for various medical devices including audiological devices. The large unmet need and growing affluence of the population offer potential opportunities for the market.

The global market for hearing aids is witnessing important technological advancements that are contributing to the emergence of cosmetically appealing, efficient and innovative hearing systems. Some of the new advancements in the hearing aids products include enhanced design for easy usage, battery longevity, customized hearing aids with wireless capability for total communication, as well as enhanced signal processing. Manufacturers are focusing efforts on capturing the interest of the younger population through the launch of cosmetically attractive and small sized hearing aids. Additionally, hearing devices are offered in convergence with consumer electronics including FMs and iPods. The relatively lesser penetration of hearing aids in countries across Asia presents potential market opportunities. While hearing aids segment leads the audiological devices market, cochlear implants represents the fastest growing segment with a CAGR of 16% over the analysis period.

Major players in the marketplace include Advanced Bionics Corporation, Cochlear Limited, GN ReSound A/S, Med-EL Medical Electronics, Neurelec SA, Otovation LLC, Phonak AG, Siemens Audiologische Technik GmbH, Starkey Laboratories Inc., Sonic Innovations Inc., Widex A/S, and William Demant Holding.

The research report titled "Audiological Devices: A Global Strategic Business Report" announced by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., provides a comprehensive review of trends, issues, strategic industry activities, and profiles of major companies worldwide. The report provides market estimates and projections (US$ Million) for product segments Hearing Aids (Behind-the-ear, In-the-ear, In-the-canal, and Completely-in-the-canal); Measurement/Testing Devices (Otoscopes, Audiometers, Impedence Analyzers, Hearing Aid Analyzers, and Others); and Cochlear Implants. Key geographic markets analyzed include the US, Canada, Japan, Europe (France, Germany, Italy, UK, Spain, Russia and Rest of Europe), Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Rest of World.
