Author Patricia Aidley stimulates readers minds as she presents a fun and colourful read, Predating Darwin: A Whacky Celebration of His Life and Work.
This slim volume is essentially a collection of colourful cartoons about rather cute and sophisticated mythical seahorses, the Mythocampi, who will surely delight all ages. Each illustration happily stands alone but does have subtly supportive text. The result is visual, punning and science-based humour! There is enough information at both ends to make it self-contained for everyone but young children and grandchildren to whom, of course, it is a picture book enjoyed with you. Somehow encapsulating a return to more gentle family-orientated times, if a book can be said to be unique perhaps this one is.
Predating Darwin: A Whacky Celebration of His Life and Work will be featured at the 2011 Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 12-16, 2011.

About the Author
Zoologist and science teacher with a M.Sc. in Equine Studies, Pat Aidley is enthralled by colour and enjoys graphic design. Having done most of the conventional things in life, she admits to some unconventional ones and sometimes wonders why. Becoming a 1950s undergraduate at Imperial College, London, from night school, was arguably the first. Being the pioneer importer of frozen horse semen into the UK (after five years liaison with government departments at home and in Germany) was probably the second and creating this arguably unique kind of book the third.
