OnlineSchools.com has announced the launch of From Pencil Pads to iPads: The Evolution of Classroom Technology, an infographic chronicling over 200 years of technology shifts in education. The infographic comes after South Korea announced that it will replace all textbooks with e-books within the next four years, costing $ 2.4 billion.
So much has changed with technology and we are now living in a digital age, said Seth Restaino, OnlineSchools.com Spokesperson. We cannot forget that we have come a long way in digital technology. Most people overlook that it wasnt too long ago that CD-Roms were cutting edge.
E-books, e-readers, tablets and other forms of technology are already popular among college students. More recently, these devices have started gaining popularity among elementary and junior high schools. In 2011, 73 percent of students claim they would not be able to study without digital devices, while in 1993, only 35 percent of public schools had internet access. As traditional teaching and learning processes are quickly being replaced by more advanced methods, schools are doing their best to keep up with changing trends.
As the world makes these transitions to digital learning, OnlineSchools.com thinks it is worthwhile to understand how and why these new tools work, said Restaino. We hope this infographic will bring light to where education has been and where it is going.
